Interested in what the Farmer’s Almanac says for the upcoming winter? Here it is:

For 2013–2014, we are forecasting a winter that will experience below average temperatures. A large area of below-normal temperatures will predominate through New England. Only the Far West and the Southeast will have a semblance of winter temperatures averaging close to normal.

Precipitation-wise, Southern New England, Southeast New York, New Jersey, and down through the Mid-Atlantic region will be seeing copious rains and/or snows.

Significant snowfalls are forecast for parts of every zone. Over the Northeast states, we are “red-flagging” the first ten days of February for possible heavy winter weather. We wish to stress that this particular part of the winter season will be particularly volatile and especially turbulent.

And mid-March could bring a wave of storminess stretching almost from coast to coast, bringing a wide variety of precipitation types as well as strong and gusty winds.

Great news for skiers, not so great for home heating. Come on in and take a look at beautiful Hearthstone Fireplace inserts and stoves, designed with all styles of home decor in mind.
