Joseph Coupal - Friday, March 01, 2013

There is a lot of new construction as well as home renovations going on in the Boston area right now. We have seen an increase in these construction projects include the installation of wood and gas fireplace inserts. Fireplace inserts provide enough heat for you to be comfortable during cold nights and freezing days allowing you to relax and enjoy a relaxing evening after work or a cozy evening with friends.

Gas and wood burning fireplace inserts are a great addition to every home. Not only do they add heating efficiency and ambiance to your home, they also add value when it comes time to sell. Wood and gas inserts are beautiful and easy to install.

While you are adding onto your home, renovating your home or building a new home, consider adding a fireplace insert. Why not make your home as beautiful, as efficient and as ‘green’ as it can be? For a warmer, cozier, more valuable home which also saves you money consider fireplace inserts.

Advantages of Wood Stoves and Gas Stoves

Joseph Coupal - Friday, February 22, 2013

While many people love having a stove or fireplace insert in their home, many cannot decide if they should add a wood burning or gas burning stove or insert. While both are much more efficient than a traditional open masonry fireplace, they are very different.

There are some pros and cons to both:

Gas fireplace inserts and gas stoves are very easy to use. They are even more economical than you would think. They can also be connected to a thermostat and remote control. At the touch of a button you have a fire when you use a gas stove or insert.

However with gas, while more efficient than an open fireplace, you will stay pay high fuel prices. Gas fireplace inserts and gas stoves are better used as a secondary or supplemental heat source for your home.

Wood stoves and wood burning fireplace inserts have a beautiful fire. Also, wood is a renewable fuel so your heating bills will be much lower. The biggest advantage may be that wood stoves and inserts can heat your entire home.
However, wood does require storing, stacking and lugging around. So, for some, this might not be the optimum choice. But  when it comes to relaxing in front of the fire, there is nothing like wood.

Both wood and gas have a place. Based on your lifestyle, home and needs, West Sport  in Metro West Boston can help you decide what the  best option is for your home. Contact us.

Best Fireplace Inserts For Your Home

Joseph Coupal - Wednesday, December 19, 2012

There are many reasons why you should take a look at improving how your home is heated. Consider installing one of the many fireplace inserts that are available.

There are basically four types of fireplace inserts to select from: Gas, electric, wood burning and wood pellet. Each has its own unique features and fuel sources. Gas fireplace inserts can be used efficiently with blowers, special thermometers and remote controls.

There are things to think about when deciding on which fuel to choose when picking out your fireplace insert. However, any fireplace insert is much more efficient than your open wood burning fireplace.

Fireplace inserts are an attractive and economical way to bring warmth and enjoyment into your home. Your old masonry fireplace will come back to life and become the main attraction at your home. Take a look at all of them and then decide which one you will be most happy with.

Wood burning fireplace inserts and pellet stove inserts give you a more authentic fire, while gas is certainly the easiest to use. Gas inserts display a fire that looks very much like the real thing. And, they can be easily vented so that they are extremely safe to operate. Whichever way you go, contact West Sport for assistance in deciding which fireplace insert would be best for you.
