ALFA FORNI - Heat Genius Pizza Oven

The Fireplace Shop and Grill Center at West Sport in Sudbury - ALFA FORNI - Heat Genius Pizza Oven

1. Authentic HeatKeeper® Firebrick

Produced at the Alfa plant in Italy, the Heat Keeper™ firebrick absorbs and stores heat far better than lava stone or ceramic used in other pizza ovens.

Thanks to the HeatKeeper™ refractory firebrick, the cooking floor of the Alfa ovens quickly cooks your pizzas making them crisp and moist at precisely the right temperature.

2. DoubleDown Ceramic Superwool® Insulation

This ceramic fibre offers twice as much heat resistance as rock wool usually used in home pizza ovens.

The DoubleDown Ceramic Superwool® guarantees excellent temperature retention during cooking, prevents the side surfaces from overheating and allows you to consistently bake perfect pizzas.

3. Patented Full Effect Full Circulation Flue System®

This system optimizes the circulation of hot air inside the cooking chamber so as to heat the refractory brick even more and cook the pizza better.

The “around and down” heat means that the oven consistently maintains the right temperature allowing to cook both the base and the pizza sauces optimally.

The Best Outdoor Pizza Ovens for Delicious Pies at Home

POPULAR MECHANICS GOLD MEDAL

Made in Italy, the Alfa Nano had authenticity going for it, both in pizza-making and flair in its design. The shiny enamel finish seemed a little precious and luxurious at first, but we found it durable and easy to clean. While the Nano is portable, it does weigh about 65 pounds and is a little awkward to move. You’ll want to set it up on an outdoor, built-in counter or table unless you get the optional color-matched cart as we did with our test model. The cart made the Nano easy to move from the porch to patio, with large, rubber-wheeled, locking casters.

The Nano is a very nice oven if you’re invested in pizza making and want to get an appliance you’ll have for years. While the Nano we tested had a propane burner (with a kit to convert to natural gas), it is also available as a wood-burning oven.

ALFA Pizza Ovens for Perfect Pizza at Home!

- Monday, April 22, 2024
The Fireplace Shop and Grill Center at West Sport in Sudbury - Alfa Pizza Ovens

Only ALFA has Heat Genius, a trifecta of tecnologies that allow you to consistently bake perfect pizza at home.

1 - Authentic HeatKeeper Firebrick vs ordinary lava stone or ceramic

Alfa uses an authentic firebrick in every pizza oven they make. This HeatKeeper firebrick, which they make in their factory in Rome, Italy, the home of pizza, absorbs and stores heat far better than the lava stone or ceramic used in other pizza ovens. This is crucial to baking a crispy, moist crust at precisely the right temperature, quickly and without burning.

2 - DoubleDown Ceramic Superwool ® Insulation vs ordinary rock wool insulation (or no insulation at all)

The space between the two stainless steel walls on an Alfa Pizza Oven is filled with DoubleDown Superwool® insulation. This European ceramic fiber offers up to twice the heat resistance of the rock wool insulation used in other artisan at-home pizza ovens, which maintains the heat and allows you to consistently bake perfect pizzas. It also allows for faster heat recovery between pizzas and dramatically lowers the temperature of the outer oven wall.

3- Patented Full Effect Full Circulation Flue System ® vs ordinary “up and out” chimneys

Other pizza ovens exhaust precious heat out the chimney at the top of their oven. Up and out! Not Alfa. The chimney may be at the top, but, thanks to the patented Full Effect Full Circulation Flue System®, hot air circulates fully around the chamber and is driven back down to where it can heat the firebrick and pizza. This is key, as it ensures the proper temperatures required to bake both crust and toppings. The circulating heat then hits a deflector at the top of the oven and travels up an escape where it finally exits out the chimney. Around and down. Then up and out. Clever!

The Right Blaze Grill for your Outdoor Kitchen?

- Monday, March 25, 2024
The Fireplace Shop and Grill Center at West Sport in Sudbury - Blaze Grills Outdoor Kitchen

Blaze Grills has three different gas grill series, so how do you know which one is best for your outdoor kitchen?

First, let’s start with the push-and-turn flame-thrower primary ignition system. Simple and effective. Plus, all of our grills come with a flash tube ignition giving you an alternate ignition option.

There are two parts included in all Blaze Gas Grills that really make them stand apart from the competition: the heat-zone separators and the flame tamers. The heat-zone separators create individual temperature zones so if you want to cook two different foods and two different temperatures, you can! The flame tamers minimize flare-ups while adding flavor – and they are included in the Blaze Lifetime Warranty unlike many of our competitors flame tamers.

Also included with all of our gas grills is a removable warming rack, a full-width drip tray and a double-lined grill hood. Plus, in all models besides the 3-Burner Traditional Gas Grill, a 10,000 BTU infrared rear rotisserie burner is included.

So now let’s explore the differences between the three different lines.

Traditional Series

The Blaze Traditional Gas Grill is available in a 3-, 4- and 5-burner model and can be either built-in or placed on a cart. Blaze Traditional Gas Grills have commercial-quality 304 cast stainless steel burners – each burner with 14,000 BTUs of cooking power. In the Traditional Series, the grill comes with 8mm round stainless steel cooking rods and 14-gauge flame tamers.

Like all Blaze Gas Grills, the Traditional Series comes with the alternate ignition option – this series has a single flash tube ignition with crossovers that allow you to light all burners from the single alternative ignition.

LTE Series

The Blaze LTE Gas Grill is available in both a 4- and 5-burner model and can be either built-in or placed on a cart. Blaze LTE Gas Grills, like the Traditional Series, have commercial-quality 304 cast stainless steel burners – each burner with 14,000 BTUs of cooking power— and 14-gauge flame tamers. Also comparable to the Traditional Series, there is a single flash tube ignition with crossovers for the alternative ignition.

When you step up to the LTE Series though, you upgrade to the 9mm triangular stainless steel cooking rods. The Blaze LTE Series also comes fully equipped with SRLs – or sexy red lights – and interior lights for your late-night cookouts. Plus, you’ll get a full replacement set of halogen bulbs, SRLs and buttons.

Professional Series

The Blaze Professional Gas Grill is available in a 2-, 3- and 4-burner model and can be built-in or placed on a cart.

When you step up to the Professional Series, you’ll notice a lot of differences. First, the grill comes equipped with 304 stainless steel H-burners – each with 18,000 BTUs of cooking power. The Professional Series comes with 12-gauge flame tamers and the cooking rods are hexagon-shaped and are made of 12mm stainless steel.

You’ll also find a rotisserie with a waterproof motor included in your Blaze Professional Gas Grill. The Professional Series also has an upgraded alternative ignition option – each burner has its own individual flash tube ignition instead of using the crossovers.

Like the LTE Series, the Professional Series comes fully equipped with SRLs – or sexy red lights – and interior lights for your late-night cookouts. Plus, you’ll get a full replacement set of halogen bulbs, SRLs and buttons.

5 Reasons To Buy Fireplace Doors

- Friday, March 01, 2024
The Fireplace Shop and Grill Center at West Sport in Sudbury - Fireplace Door

It’s a great time to find a fireplace door that meets your home’s needs! Let’s discover 5 reasons fireplace doors are a must-have.

#1 – Energy Efficiency

Outdoor temperatures are always working against that power bill and the fireplace is basically an open door for summer heat and winter cold. When left open in the winter, the fireplace will allow warm air to escape up and out the chimney and in the summer cool air from indoors is able to escape from the chimney. In both cases, fireplace glass doors increase efficiency by minimizing the amount of air lost up the chimney. In simple terms, a fireplace door saves you money!

#2 – Safety

We all love the crackling, popping sound fire creates as it burns, but embers that jump from the fireplace can burn people or pets sitting nearby. Fireplace doors and screens put a barrier between the fire and your home, your family, and your pets. They also keep embers and crackling logs safely in the firebox.

#3 – Hide the Unsightliness of an Open Firebox

Following on the heels of safety, is the messiness of an open firebox. Fireplace doors subtly tidy up the appearance of a firebox, keep ashes where they belong, and just generally keep your hearth cleaner during the burn season.

#4 – Aesthetics

With many gorgeous options offered, you can choose a fireplace door that fits the look and feel of your home, whether it’s rustic, modern, farmhouse or anything in between.

#5 – Fireplace Facelift (more aesthetics)

Looks matter, right? Prefabricated fireboxes are anything but artistic or attractive. They bring the beauty of fire into the home and offer safety but that’s about as far as they go! There are so many gorgeous fireplace door options!

Make Your Fireplace More Eco Friendly

- Friday, February 23, 2024
The Fireplace Shop and Grill Center at West Sport in Sudbury - Make Your Fireplace More Eco Friendly

Upgrade Your Fireplace for Efficiency

Consider a Insert:

Invest in an EPA-certified fireplace insert. These inserts boast significantly higher efficiency than traditional open fireplaces, reducing wood consumption by up to 50% while capturing more heat and distributing it effectively throughout your home. Look for inserts that meet or exceed the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) standards for emissions and efficiency. Pellet and gas inserts are popular choices, as they burn fuel more cleanly and efficiently than wood-burning alternatives.

Embrace Glass Doors:

Install tempered glass doors on your fireplace. These doors act as a barrier, minimizing heat loss up the chimney and maximizing heat circulation within the room. This not only improves efficiency but also reduces drafts and improves air quality.

Seal and Insulate:

Ensure your fireplace is adequately sealed to prevent air leaks. Address any cracks around the damper and flue, and consider insulating the firebox with fire-resistant materials to retain heat further.

Implement Smart Heating Practices

To further enhance the eco-friendliness of your fireplace, adopt smart heating practices. Use your fireplace as a supplementary heat source rather than relying solely on your central heating system. This allows you to target specific areas of your home and avoid unnecessary energy consumption.

Install a programmable thermostat to regulate the temperature more efficiently. This allows you to set different temperatures for different times of the day, ensuring that your heating system operates only when necessary. Additionally, consider using ceiling fans to distribute warm air throughout the room, reducing the need for excessive heating.
