Grilled Lobster Tails are Perfect for New Year's Day!

Joseph Coupal - Thursday, December 27, 2018

The Fireplace Shop and Grill Center at West Sport in Sudbury, MAThis grilled lobster is perfect for any occasion. Even if you don't have a lot of experience in grilling shellfish, this will be an easy recipe for you if you start with either fresh or frozen lobster tails.

This recipe assumes you aren't starting with a live lobster.

Ingredients

  • 6 lobster tails
  • 1/4 cup olive oil (or melted butter)
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Steps to Make It

Note: while there are multiple steps to this recipe, this grilled lobster dish is broken down into workable categories to help you better plan for preparation and grilling.

Prepare the Lobster Tails

  1. Gather the ingredients.
  2. To split the lobster tails in half, place them on a cutting board, backside down.
  3. Use a large, sharp knife to cut down through the center to the shell the whole length.
  4. Fold the shell back (like you are opening a book), breaking through the shell.
  5. If the shell doesn't break, you can use kitchen shears to cut through it. The flesh should now be exposed.
  6. Pat the lobster tails dry with paper towels.‚Äč

Grill the Lobster Tails

  1. Preheat the grill for medium-high heat.
  2. Combine the olive oil (or butter), lemon juice, dill, and salt in small mixing bowl until the salt has dissolved.
  3. Brush the mixture onto the flesh side of lobster tails.
  4. Place the lobster tails onto the grill and cook for 5 to 7 minutes, turning them once during the cooking process. Depending on the size of the lobster tail, it may need to cook longer. Lobster tails will be done once meat reaches an internal temperature 140 F. The shells should turn a bright pink and the flesh should be opaque all the way through the center.
  5. Remove the lobster tails from the heat.
  6. Serve and enjoy!

Tips

Lobster tails are traditionally served with drawn butter. Or, you can make a second batch of the butter, lemon juice, dill, and salt baste which will do nicely as a dipping sauce.

There are a couple of ways to grill the lobster tails. You could lightly brush them with the sauce and grill meat side down for about 5 minutes, then flip them, add the sauce generously, and grill until done. Or, you could grill them with the meat side up with the sauce through the whole cooking time, until done.

If you find the lobster tails curl when grilling, you could insert a metal skewer the length of the tail before grilling. This will keep it straight and give you an easy way to put it on the grill and take it off.

Fireplace Inserts Are More Attractive and Save Energy

Joseph Coupal - Wednesday, December 12, 2018

The Fireplace Shop and Grill Center at West Sport in SudburyWood burning fireplace inserts are more efficient than traditional open, wood burning fireplaces. If you have a working fireplace in your home install a wood burning insert if you want to save money and energy while making your living space more attractive and comfortable.

Fireplace inserts are energy-efficient and an easy and effective way to update the look of your home. By using a fireplace insert for heat, there is very little energy wasted, so the heat produced by the fire effectively heats your home. Thus, you save money on your heating bill.

But, best of all, inserts for fireplaces become a focal point in the room, adding ambiance year round. They are a very easy and relatively inexpensive way to give your living space a make-over. Fireplace Inserts also come equipped with blowers, fans, and gorgeous surrounds which increase their efficiency, beauty, and convenience. With these features, inserts for fireplaces help lower utility bills while they add charm, comfort, and warmth to your home.

With a wood fireplace insert you still get to enjoy watching a real wood fire flicker in your hearth. But you can relax even further while you watch knowing how an insert will improve the efficiency and style of your existing fireplace giving you convenience, beaut, and efficiency.

Benefits of Glass Fireplace Doors

Joseph Coupal - Wednesday, December 05, 2018

The Fireplace Shop and Grill Center at West Sport in SudburyAdding a glass fireplace door not only adds beauty to your fireplace, it also helps your fireplace burn more efficiently, reduce heating & cooling costs and provides protection for your family and home.

Beauty & Style

Design Specialties doors bring a new look and style to your fireplace. Whether you're replacing an old existing fireplace door or doing a complete renovation, you'll find the door that will complete your fireplace. Choose from over 20 different door models and over 35 different finishes.

Protection

If you have a wood burning fireplace, glass fireplace doors provide protection from sparks or logs tumbling out of the fireplace which can harm your family and home. If you have a gas fireplace, our screens and doors add an extra layer of protection from the hot glass found on many of today's contemporary fireplaces. Our doors also prevent children and pets from getting too close to the fireplace.

Increase energy efficiency

An open fireplace is just like an open window. A fireplace door helps prevent warm air being lost up the chimney during the winter and keeps cool air in during the summer which can help reduce your heating & cooling costs.

More efficient burning

Glass doors actually help your fire burn better. By enclosing the burning area, firewood is able to burn greater and produce more heat. The glass doors also absorb and radiate heat into the room better than a fireplace without doors.
